A sure sign that property prices are falling is the drop in DIY sales. DIY projects in the home is normally the countrys passion. However once people see the property market becoming flat and then prices decreasing, DIY stops and is put on the back burner. No-one is going to spend money improving their homes when they are unsure whether they will get their money back when they come to sell. So homeowners delay in updating their kitchen or bathroom, they put off putting in a conservatory or doing an extension and hold tight with what they have. So DIY shops are looking alot quieter at the moment and they could be in for a long wait until the property market picks up again.
